Laguna Niguel Mayor Professional Tem Rischi Paul Sharma abruptly resigned from town council April 6.
“It has been a definite honor and pleasure to have served the folks of Laguna Niguel and to have labored alongside our metropolis employees. I want you [City Manager Tamara Letourneau] and the staff all one of the best and am assured the management that’s in place will proceed to maneuver the Metropolis of Laguna Niguel ahead,” Sharma wrote in his resignation letter.
It’s unclear why Sharma stepped down and he was not instantly obtainable for remark.
Town council will choose a brand new Mayor Professional Tem and resolve the right way to fill the emptiness at a future council assembly.
“I thank Mr. Sharma for his years of devoted public service as an elected chief. On behalf of my Metropolis Council colleagues, we respect his contributions and need him and his household one of the best,” Mayor Kelly Jennings stated in a press release.
Sharma was elected to the council in November 2020 for a four-year time period. He was appointed mayor professional tem for a one-year time period in December 2022.
He served a short stint as mayor to fill a emptiness when Councilwoman Sandy Rains stepped down from her mayoral position in February, till the council appointed now-Mayor Kelly Jennings to the seat.

Previous to being elected to town council, Sharma served as an envoy for the Laguna Niguel Chamber of Commerce and as an appointee of the Laguna Niguel Army Assist Committee.
